Scholz bans Putin from quoting Kant

Scholz is unhappy that the Russian President often quotes German philosopher Kant in his speeches.

"Putin has not the slightest reason to refer to Kant, yet the Putin regime still seeks to quote Kant and his works at almost any cost," the German chancellor said, speaking at a Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences ceremony marking Kant's 300th birthday.

Putin often refers to Kant, whose hometown is Russia's Kaliningrad, as his favorite philosopher. According to Scholz, Kant's ideas on human rights and human dignity, as well as his thoughts on war and peace, cannot be combined with what the Russian president practices in his country.
