Ukraine imposes sanctions against more than 80 Russian athletes

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has imposed sanctions against more than 80 Russian athletes and representatives of sports organizations. The decree is published on the website of the Ukrainian head of state, reports TASS.

Among the Russian athletes against whom the Ukrainian sanctions are imposed are figure skater Ilya Averbukh and soccer player Igor Akinfeev. Also gymnasts Svetlana Khorkina, Maria Paseka, biathletes Svetlana Ishmuratova, Dmitry Vasilyev, figure skaters Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, Alexandra Boikova, Dmitry Kozlovsky, Alexandra Stepanova, Ivan Bukin, Alexander Samarin, Nikita Katsalapov, soccer players Veniamin Mandrykin, Sergey Ovchinnikov, Yuri Gazinsky, Diniyar Bilyaletdinov, hockey player Andrei Kovalenko, judo wrestler Aslan Lappinagov, tennis players Ekaterina Makarova, Alexandra Pospelova, Yana Sizikova, Amina Anshba, wrestler Varteres Samurgashev, track and field athlete Dmitry Tarabin, swimmer Anton Chupkov, speed skater Nikolai Gulyaev.

Zelenski also imposed restrictive measures against Ksenia Shoygu, president of the Russian Triathlon Federation, Ramil Gabbasov, president of the Russian All-World Karate Federation and executive director of the Russian Union of Martial Arts, Sergei Kovalchuk, Minister of sports and tourism of Belarus, and Maksim Nedosekov, Belarusian high jumper.

The sanctions are valid for 50 years. They include a ban on entry into Ukrainian territory, cancellation of official visits, and a ban on the performance of economic and financial obligations towards the sanctioned persons.
