Belarusian Vanessa Kolodinskaya to compete in finals of World Wrestling Championship

The World Wrestling Championship continues in Belgrade (the capital of Serbia) with Belarusian athletes competing under a neutral flag, BelTA reports.

On September 20, three representatives of Belarus began their performance at the World Championship. Vanessa Kolodinskaya, who participates in the weight category up to 53 kg, has been the most successful. In the 1/8 finals Kolodinskaya defeated Stalvira Orszusz from Hungary, in the quarterfinals Sweden's Junna Malmgren, and in the semifinals Antim Panghal from India. For the gold, our athlete will compete with Japanese Akari Fujinami on September 21. Vanessa Kolodinskaya is a two-time world champion (2012 and 2017), as well as a bronze medalist at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

For the other two Belarusian girls, the main start of the season in Serbia was less successful. In the weight category up to 62 kg Veronika Ivanova started with a confident victory over Jessica Derrell from Barbados, but in the second round she lost to Ukrainian Irina Koliadenko. In the weight up to 68 kg our Anna Sadchenko was eliminated at the stage of 1/8 final, her offender was another representative of Ukraine Tatyana Ryzhko.

Also today our Tatyana Pavlova (up to 65 kg) will fight for the bronze medal of the World Wrestling Championship, her opponent will be the first number of the world rating in this weight Mimi Hristova from Bulgaria.
