President of Belarus finishes his official visit to Azerbaijan

By Sergei Khamentovsky: Alexander Lukashenko and Ilham Aliyev held narrow and expanded format talks, discussing prospects of industrial cooperation and joint products entry into third-country markets.

The Presidents agreed to increase the supplies of MAZ machinery. Also, the largest producer of machinery in the CIS, Amkodor, will enter Azerbaijan's market. There is already a dealer on the Absheron peninsula, and in a year or two Amkodor plant will open in Baku.

Belarus also proposed to launch joint projects in science and technology. The Sumgait Technology Park is the largest in Europe and has export potential. A similar innovation and technology cluster is being created in Belarus. The Presidents confirmed their readiness to develop industrial cooperation and trade in the Caspian region.

The Presidents also found new forms of cooperation in the field of education. The meeting resulted in a number of bilateral agreements in the economic and humanitarian spheres.
The annual trade turnover has reached a quarter billion dollars. In 2014, Minsk and Baku are planning to reach the milestone of 300 million dollars.
