By Sergei Khamentovsky: A constructive conversation about the state and prospects of the defence sector has been held today at the Baranavichy Aircraft Repair Plant. The military-industrial sector has always been paid enough attention to, yet the President urges to go ahead, setting specific tasks such as equipping the Belarusian army with the latest weapons and increasing supplies to foreign markets. According to the President, dealing solely with modernization and repair of existing equipment is unpromising. Therefore, it is necessary to produce new in-demand equipment, cooperation being the best solution in this case.

The 558th Aircraft Repair Plant, the leading enterprise of the defence sector in Belarus, specializes in aircraft repair and modernization. The plant has recently strengthened its position in the aircraft repair markets of Africa, the Middle East and Asia, with its customer base consisting of representatives from over 20 countries. The plant cooperates with more than 300 aviation-related enterprises and organizations in Russia and CIS countries. Its major customer in Belarus is the Ministry of Defence.

After visiting the plant, the President talked to its employees discussing workplace environment and salaries. Besides, such topics as the progress of spring field works and the overall socio-economic development of the Brest region were also touched upon.
