By Stanislav Lipsky: The Palace of Gymnastics was solemnly opened today in Minsk. For our athletes and coaches this is a long-awaited event. A new home for gymnasts is a kind of recognition of their success. The Belarusian school of rhythmic gymnastics is known all over the world. The girls brought 6 medals from six Olympic Games, dozens of medals were won at world championships.

Until now, there was no specialized site for competitions and training. The decision to build the complex was made by the President. Up to 200 athletes can simultaneously train in this complex. It will be one of the central objects of the Second European Games, which Belarus hosts next year. Today, the President cut the red ribbon along with Olympic champions - Belarusian Marina Lobach and Russian Alina Kabaeva, as well as with the chairman of the Belarusian Gymnastics Association and the mayor of Minsk.

The training center is located in the vicinity of the Minsk Arena and includes two large training halls, two halls for groups of initial training, four halls of choreography, an aerobics room, a swimming pool, two saunas, a gym, a solarium, a cafe, a cardio zone, a physiotherapy room, a massage room, treatment rooms.

The Head of State personally took part in the construction of the Palace of Gymnastics: on April 22, 2017 the President performed work on concreting monolithic floors in the halls of choreography.

There are no analogues to this object on the planet. During the Second European Games the center will be used as a training base for the participants of the sports forum.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, Alexander Lukashenko and Alina Kabaeva, nine-time world champion, discussed in detail the latest sports events in the world with an emphasis on rhythmic gymnastics.
