Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Defense of CSTO countries held in Minsk

By Andrei Krivosheev: Minsk becomes platform for a large-scale dialogue on strengthening global security. The meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CSTO countries was held in the Belarusian capital. The President also took part in it. The meeting was held on the eve of two important dates in the history of the organization: 25 years since the signing of the Collective Security Treaty and 15 years since the formation of the CSTO. Belarus presides in the Organization and stands for the prompt equipping of the Collective Rapid Reaction Force with the latest models of weapons and military equipment, for expanding cooperation within the Organization, as well as conducting new large-scale exercises.

Belarus is strengthening existing security systems. The organization shares the priorities and initiatives of Belarus for collective security. The Belarusian initiatives for the CSTO were discussed today at a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Defense of the Organization in Minsk. The most important result is the coordination of the plan of exercises, fees and conferences for the next 1.5 years.
