Law on credit histories amended in Belarus

Head of State Alexander Lukashenko has signed the law "On amending the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On credit histories". This is reported by BelTA with reference to the press service of the Belarusian leader.

This document provides for the expansion of sources of credit histories formation at the expense of legal entities selling goods, works, services on terms of deferred or installment payment (the provision of relevant information to the Credit Register is supposed to be on a voluntary basis); the possibility of establishing a ban on the provision of a credit report by an individual; exclusively targeted use of credit reports to mitigate the risks of abuse of information contained in them; increase in the number of credit reports; and the use of credit reports in the form of a credit report.

The provisions of the law are aimed at increasing the level of protection of subjects of credit history from fraudulent actions, as well as at preventing unfair use of credit reports by users of credit histories.
