Prospects for development of Belarusian-Azerbaijani relations discussed in Palace of Independence

President Alexander Lukashenko met with the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Zakir Gasanov. The conversation on bilateral cooperation went well beyond the military-technical sphere. The positions of Belarus and Azerbaijan coincide in many respects.

Over the past 10 years, the total turnover has increased from 30 to 300 million dollars. The pace of cooperation is supported by personal meetings of Presidents.

The basis of Belarusian exports last year was formed by tractor drivers, oil products, forest products, medicines, dairy products. The Belarusian economy attracted investments of almost 7.5 million dollars. More than 70 representative offices, subsidiaries and distributors of Belarusian enterprises operate in Azerbaijan. The assembly manufactures of the MTZ tractor, MAZ and MZKT vehicles were built on the basis of Ganja Automobile Plant.

Zakir Gasanov arrived on a three-day visit in Belarus. The Defense Minister of Azerbaijan will visit the enterprises of the military-industrial complex. During the meetings, prospects for the development and expansion of bilateral cooperation in the military-technical sphere and in the field of military education will be discussed as well as security issues and other topics of mutual interest.
