Belarus is now officially the chairman of the Eurasian Economic Union since January 1, 2020. The decision was approved at the summit in St. Petersburg. The meeting of the leaders of 5 countries in a narrow composition lasted 10 minutes. All decisions and documents were signed at the meeting in an expanded composition of the party. The heads of the EAEU countries signed an agreement on pensions in the union and approved Mikhail Myasnikovich as chairman of the EEC Board. He will start his work on February 1.

Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin held negotiations before the EAEU summit. Today's talks are a continuation of the 5-hour Sochi marathon at the beginning of the month. The current dialogue in St. Petersburg lasted 1,5 hour. Issues in the fields of agriculture, communications, customs, and regulation of the alcohol market were fully agreed on. The parties have not reached an agreement on 3 out of 31 issues.

The negotiation marathon continues. Alexander Lukashenko takes part in an informal summit of the CIS heads at these moments.

Maxim Oreshkin, Minister of Economic Development of Russia: "We discussed what has been achieved since the meeting in Sochi. We carried out very intense and very effective work with my counterpart Dmitry Nikolayevich Krutoy. 3 groups of issues block the final agreements, according to the results of today's negotiations. These are agreements in the oil, gas and tax sectors. These issues need to be resolved."
