President meets Supreme Court Chairman

The development of the country's judicial system, innovations in work and high-profile criminal cases were discussed in the conversation between the President and Chairman of the Supreme Court Valentin Sukalo yesterday. The President instructed the representatives to reconsider their profession, to be more attentive to people and each specific case in practice. The approach to the cases will generally give the impression of the entire judicial vertical of the country. A national program for the development of the justice system for the next 5 years has been formed in Belarus.

The judicial system is being digitalized. An appropriate bill provides for audio or video fixation during the meetings. The process of justice, also judicial decisions will be transparent and open. Their data bank is being formed. The access to it is open to everyone.

The Supreme Court together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs will develop a bill on amnesty for the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in the new year, on behalf of the Head of the State.

The law should be applied from the celebration of the Great Victory, so it will be implemented from May 9. The amnesty 2020 will likely affect the same categories of convicts as the last time. The President signed the law on amnesty in connection with the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders last summer.
