By Alexei Adashkin: The upcoming International Women’s Day is a good occasion to express admiration and gratitude to women whose achievements in all spheres of life are highly appreciated in Belarus. True harmony both in society and family is created only by the joint efforts of women and men, as stressed by the President at today’s solemn event in the Independence Palace dedicated to both International Women’s Day and Defender of the Fatherland Day. The ceremony featured a presentation of state awards and ranks to military officers.
Women from different cities across Belarus received the Order of the Mother for giving birth to and bringing up five and more children. The women’s professional achievements were marked by the medal For Labour Services and honorary titles of the Republic of Belarus. Besides, the major general title was conferred on 9 male representatives of the law enforcement agencies.
Following the award ceremony, the attendees were invited to a festive reception featuring the President.
