Over the past 8 months, the bilateral trade turnover has increased by almost 20 percent, making up 28 million dollars. Yesterday the delegation visited the agricultural enterprise Dzerzhinsky, and today the parties have held a meeting in the Ministry of Education. The partnership with this Russian region is not limited to production and economic vectors. Scientific cooperation has also been established. For example, Belarusian students will be able to study in Karelia on an exchange basis. This was stated today by Chairman of the Council of Rectors of Karelia Anatoly Voronin at a meeting with the Minister of Education of Belarus. In addition, specific agreements on joint projects in agricultural universities were discussed as the delegation from Karelia visited Belarusian State Technological University.

Anatoly Voronin, Chairman of the Council of Rectors of the Republic of Karelia: Our agenda includes meetings with heads of BSTU and Amkodor. And, most importantly, we would like to establish exchange of students and teachers between our universities. Our universities are already cooperating; for example, world's strongest programmers gather in Petrozavodsk twice a year, and the Belarusian team constantly participates in these competitions. We are always pleased to meet our Belarusian friends.

Apart from educational cooperation, the parties are planning to jointly work on several innovative projects and scientific developments. Today's talks will be held in the Government.
