The Grodno region must strengthen its leading position in the national economy, as stressed by President Alexander Lukashenko at today’s meeting on the region’s socio-economic development in Volkovysk. The President started his working visit specifically with analysing the socio-economic development of the Grodno region and Volkovysk district to learn about existing problems. He promised to regularly monitor the so-called “problem matrix for the power vertical”. Today, the country's authorities are concerned about the fact that such a strong region has not reached five of the key eight performance indicators in the first half of the year.
Alexander Lukashenko was interested in detail in the situation in the western region and in the Volkovysk district in particular. Following the meeting attended by representatives of regulatory authorities and ministries, the President gave specific instructions to the Government and governors to establish dialogue on all issues of concern.
Also, Alexander Lukashenko visited the district’s most problematic enterprise, Volkovysk Plant Of Roof And Construction-Finishing Machines. The company has seen a positive trend towards economic situation improvement after attracting a Turkish investor. However, there are a number of problems requiring the President’s intervention.
Alexander Lukashenko also visited a number of agricultural facilities in the Volkovysk district.
