Literally a week remains until the beginning of the new school year. The readiness of educational institutions, changes in secondary and higher education, as well as other innovations in the system were reported to the Head of State today by Minister Igor Karpenko. Almost all schools are ready to meet children. Specialists tested food units, canteens, put in order the gyms, classrooms. This year more than 3 thousand schools will work in Belarus, where 1 million 30 thousand students will come to classes.
The day of knowledge will be special for 115 thousand first-graders. This academic year, the country will open 8 new schools, two in Minsk and Brest, one in Grodno, Ostrovets, Borisov and Mogilev. One of them will be visited by the Head of state. Traditionally, on the Day of knowledge, the President congratulates children and teachers. Alexander Lukashenko also announced today a large meeting on improving national education, to discuss one of the major issues, in particular, possible changes in the admission to universities.
