President’s Message determines country's development strategy for year 2016

The country's development strategy for the year 2016 has been determined. The main principles of the work were announced by the President in the Oval Hall. Alexander Lukashenko touched upon all topics without exception: economy, culture, social issues, foreign policy. The main and the biggest part of the address was devoted to the economy. According to the President, this year should be a turning point.

The year 2016 will be a serious test for all power structures. Legislators are expected to prepare effective laws in the field of investment policy, which would contribute to attracting direct foreign investment.

President focuses on growth factors and provisions for further development. One of the important factors of growth is the reduction of production costs by at least 25 percent by means of effective management practices, reduction of non-production costs and elimination of shady schemes.

The President notes that this year new economy needs to be created in Belarus. It is necessary to support private initiative, develop small business and create not less than 50 thousand new job places a year. This responsibility falls on the shoulders of local authorities.

Belarus needs modern productions based on science and newest technologies. These are such projects as the industrial park and the nuclear power plant.

The State shall and will protect the rights, property and dignity of all entrepreneurs who do their job honestly. But we can expect strict observance of the laws and fair payment of taxes.

The global demand to the government and the National Bank is to ensure macroeconomic stability.

The Belarusian leader talked about the personnel policy and the need for young and talented managers.

The final part of the speech was devoted to foreign policy. Belarus will not choose between East and West. Russia is our strategic partner.

The Message 2016 is a strategy and a landmark for the coming year for the authorities and heads of enterprises.

Parliamentarians asked a dozen questions after the President’s Address. The President spoke about the necessity of conducting negotiations in the interests of Belarusian producers. There was also a question about labor pensions: they are planned to be increased in the second half of the year.
