President holds meetings to discuss parliamentary campaign results

The parliamentary elections in Belarus took place in a calm atmosphere, as stated by Alexander Lukashenko at today’s meeting with Head of the Presidential Administration Alexander Kosinets in the Palace of Independence.

The parliamentary elections in Belarus met democratic principles and were transparent and free, as announced by Head of the CIS observer mission Sergei Lebedev at today’s meeting with President Alexander Lukashenko. The CIS Executive Secretary pointed out that Belarusian voters had become more mature and experienced. The electoral process in Belarus has changed towards greater openness and democracy, the CIS experts believe.

The Belarusian President and the CIS Executive Secretary also discussed preparations for a CIS Heads of State summit, scheduled to place in Bishkek on Friday and expected to result in the adoption of a number of important documents.

Alexander Lukashenko has held another working meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko, setting a task to reach a final agreement with Russia on energy supplies within two days.

The Head of State also pointed out that the CIS summit in Bishkek might discuss some general issues on Belarus-Russia relations.
