President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has sent greetings to foreign leaders on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the Great Victory Day. The press service of the Belarusian head of state informed this.

Alexander Lukashenko has sent messages of congratulations to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as the peoples of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

In his congratulatory message to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the head of state noted that the way of the Soviet soldier to the Great Victory was hard and long, soaked in the blood of those who fell in battles, forged by the selfless work of the home front workers, pierced by the pain of irreplaceable losses, incredible hardships and deprivation.

"I know how carefully you keep the memory of every hero, how honor the exploits of the soldiers who saved humanity from extermination and slavery. Our duty before our ancestors is to resolutely resist attempts to revive the ideas of Nazism, the glorification of war criminals and their accomplices, and the falsification of the truth about World War II. I am convinced that we will have enough fortitude, courage and wisdom to overcome the difficulties and win. Selfless devotion to the high ideals of patriotism has always been and will remain a moral guide for the peoples of Belarus and Russia," said the President.

Addressing the people of Georgia, Alexander Lukashenko reminded that during the severe years of trials the Belarusians and Georgians bravely overcame severe hardships and suffered irreplaceable losses and repelled the deadly threat of fascist enslavement shoulder to shoulder. "We treasure the memory of the heroes who selflessly fought for freedom and the happy future of future generations. Their feat of arms is an example of indomitable resistance and selfless bravery, calling on us to cherish and multiply traditions of friendship, good neighbourliness and mutual support," said the Head of State.

The President expressed his conviction that Belarusian-Georgian ties fixed by sincere human sympathy, joint history and common Christian values will continue to develop successfully in the spirit of constructive partnership.

"The farther into history the unforgettable May 1945 goes, the more majestic the unprecedented feat of the multinational Soviet people becomes. This date inseparably combines triumph and grief, joy and tears of millions of people who were not sparing their lives fighting for freedom and restoring our common Fatherland from the ruins and ashes," the message to the people of Moldova reads.

Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that the joint historical memory of the heroic struggle against fascism serves as a strong foundation for the successful development of friendly Belarusian-Moldovan relations and for strengthening mutual understanding between the two countries.
