President Alexander Lukashenko has congratulated the People's Writer of Belarus Nikolai Cherginets on his 85th birthday. This was reported by the press service of the Belarusian leader.

"Your life is a vivid example of service to your people and homeland. Hard military years, work in law enforcement agencies, carrying out international duty in Afghanistan, direct participation in building the Union of Belarus and Russia, representing our country's interests in the UN - these are the milestones of the long road, reflected in your work," reads the message.

Nikolai Cherginets is one of the most popular contemporary Belarusian writers, the President said. Over fifty of his books have been translated into 18 foreign languages. The audience highly appreciated the feature films based on the novels of the writer.

"Your civic position and authority have allowed you to maintain and develop the public association "Union of Writers of Belarus," which you have headed for more than 15 years," said the head of state. - I am sure that as honorary chairman of the Union of Writers of the Union State and co-chairman of the Union State, you will continue working to consolidate society on the basis of patriotism, unity and harmony.

Alexander Lukashenko wished Nikolai Cherginets good health, inexhaustible creative inspiration, happiness and prosperity.
