President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has congratulated the people of Finland on Independence Day, as the press service of the Belarusian leader reported.

"Unfortunately, today the unstable and contradictory situation in our common space negatively affects the sustainable development of both countries, hinders the possibility of mutual benefit. Politicians of your state for many decades have made a significant contribution to the resolution of very complex conflicts for the sake of peaceful coexistence of peoples. For example, it was in Helsinki that the historic final act of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe was signed. Belarus has also been promoting for a long time the initiative to organize a broad multilateral dialogue on strengthening confidence-building measures, security and interaction in the region," the message of congratulations runs.

Alexander Lukashenko expressed his conviction that the creation of further barriers between Belarusians and Finns is not in line with common interests. "It is necessary to return to the restoration of the lost and the formation of new economic and humanitarian ties," the head of state emphasized.

The President wished the people of Finland peace, success and well-being.
