Lukashenko: We will hold out anyway

Historical memory is an important and maybe even the main source of our values. The very foundation, on which our self-consciousness, our national identity, and our understanding of the modern world are based. A world that with each passing year does more and more insane things with regard to events whose participants and witnesses are still with us.

"Nothing is sacred," I would like to add. What we see in the news feeds sometimes does not lend itself to normal or literary commentary. But let this be on the conscience of those politicians who are at war with history. They know what they are doing and why. And they understand that they lie, obfuscate and substitute facts. They justify the genocide, atrocities, violence and the brown plague. They desecrate the very fact of the Victory and already call the Soviet Union the aggressor. As they call it, they endured so long, clenching their teeth, that now they finally unmask themselves.

That makes the following thesis even more urgent today - "Nobody will take our Victory away from us!" This idea is invariably present in the policy of modern Belarus. Our President has been speaking consistently and as a matter of principle about the importance of preserving the historical truth about the impermissibility of rewriting history to the benefit of the West, to the benefit of geopolitics and cynical ambitions. We shall remember and we shall not let the world forget the people's deed.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:

We do not need a war. I swear to you in this holy place that we will never allow our land to be looked upon with contempt. We will defend it, no matter what it costs us, we will continue to educate our children on the values of peace and human life. The main thing we must do is to preserve this truth, not to allow a revival of the terrible past. We feel the coldness of the Cold War no longer, we must stop, we intend to use all our reserves to restore stability and calm in the region. You must not strangle us, you must carry us in your arms, the Germans, the Poles, the so-called European Union, because we saved you from the brown plague. We will not give our homeland, independence and sovereignty to anyone. We will hold out in any case.
