Protection of violated human and state rights is a criterion of assessing the Investigative Committee’s activities, as pointed out by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at yesterday’s meeting of the Investigative Committee Board. The President set a number of key tasks, instructing the Investigative Committee to cooperate more actively with inquiry bodies, first of all, with the interior and financial investigation agencies. Major efforts should be focused on suppressing crimes related to economic security and corruption. Preventing law violations should also be paid attention to.

The President urged to get more actively involved in putting forward legislative initiatives and pay attention to introducing new methods of crime investigation. After all, according to the politician, the Investigative Committee was created for the sake of helping people.

Summing up the discussion, Alexander Lukashenko stressed that the efficiency of law enforcement officials’ should be judged by the population’s reaction rather than by the statistics.
