Belarus is on the verge of a major political campaign of five years - the presidential elections. Key aspects of the upcoming event were sounded today at the Palace of Independence. The officials who will be directly involved in the organization of the election campaign met with the President. The forthcoming campaign is a kind of examination for all authorities. Elections should be held at an appropriate level. Particular attention is paid to security and third-party monitoring. But, nevertheless, people are always in the center of the policy. Belarusians need to be confident in the future, says the President.

Organizational and economic issues are usually dealt with by local and national authorities. President instructs to ensure well-coordinated work of, power structures at all levels. It is important to provide security for the people. Elections must be held freely, openly and transparently, with the invitation of international observers.
Along with preparations for the elections the President urges leaders not to forget about the most important functions of managers at all levels: the attention to everyday problems of the people.
The presidential election will cost 260 billion rubles or 180 billion rubles if it only takes one round. A significant portion of these funds will be spent on information materials.
The final date of the election will be announced in a week.
