Belarus-Serbia cooperation becoming more productive

The Belarusian-Serbian cooperation is becoming more productive, as noted by President Alexander Lukashenko during the official talks with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic held in Belgrade. The meeting began with a solemn ceremony featuring such indispensable attributes as the red carpet and the honor guard. Alexander Lukashenko was personally met by Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic. A warm greeting was followed by the anthems of the two countries.


First, Alexander Lukashenko and Tomislav Nikolic talked one-on-one to be later joined by delegation members. Alexander Lukashenko noted the fraternal nature of the Belarusian-Serbian relations and stressed that the purpose of the current visit is to maximize the potential of the two countries.


The meeting resulted in the Presidents' decision to expand cooperation within the OSCE. Besides, a package of documents on Belarus-Serbia cooperation in various spheres was signed. In particular, it includes memoranda on the development of MAZ assembly production and establishment of low-power tractors assembly production in Serbia. According to Alexander Lukashenko, in the near future the countries should reach the trade turnover of at least half a billion dollars.


Today Alexander Lukashenko also met with the leadership of the National Assembly and Patriarch Irenaeus of Serbia.
