Alexander Lukashenko holds meeting with Marianna Shchetkina

The Head of State has met with Marianna Shchetkina, the national coordinator for achieving the goals of sustainable development. As noted by the President, each state is interested in implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

All countries develop programs for sustainable development independently, focusing on a common document adopted by the United Nations. Belarus has already taken a number of important steps in this direction. According to Marianna Schetkina, it is important to take into account the global goals when developing the documents of the highest level. It is also important to carry out a campaign to inform the public, especially young people. It is planned to hold a national forum on the Sustainable Development Goals with participation of representatives of government, civil society, business and academia.

According to the information of the national coordinator, Belarus occupies today a special place in the European region, among the CIS countries and the former Soviet Union, as it leads the organization of work on sustainable development. During the working meeting other areas of work of Marianna Shchetkina were discussed, in particular, the management of the Union of Women and the supervision of the execution of the decree on the promotion of employment.

The database of citizens not engaged in economic activity is planned to be tested in September. This was stated by Marianna Shchetkina to reporters after the meeting with the President. Working groups that need to thoroughly master the situation on their territory have already been trained in all regions. The most important thing is to avoid making erroneous decisions. Individuals do not need to provide their data, this will be made by the corresponding organizations.
