One can submit documents until the end of the year. The election campaign is under close supervision of local observers. More than 1500 observers have been registered for the campaign. The most active observers are representatives of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, the organization Belaya Rus and the Union of Veterans.
The chairman of the Central Election Commission commented on the course of the election campaign in an interview with our TV channel. The current stage is nomination of candidates for deputies. A total of 17,500 initiative groups for the collection of signatures were registered. The greatest interest in elections is traditionally observed in the capital. According to Lydia Yermoshina, the activity of potential candidates in this year's political race is even higher than in the presidential election campaign. However, the competition in regional councils is much smaller.
Nomination of candidates will end on January 8. The most active phase of the election campaign starts on January 18 and will last until the main voting day on February 18.
