Vladimir Makei comments on obtaining objective information about Belarusian-Russian exercise Zapad 2017

8 сентября 2017

There is no sincere interest on the part of Western partners in obtaining objective information about the Belarusian-Russian exercise Zapad 2017.

Such a point of view was expressed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of our country to journalists.

Vladimir Makei, Foreign Minister of Belarus: "These measures would help if our Western partners had no desire to artificially strain the situation if there was a sincere interest in getting information about the exercises in an objective assessment of the situation related to the exercises. We regret that there is no such sincere and objective interest".

The Belarusian-Russian exercise Zapad 2017 starts on September 14. Given the tense military-political situation in the region, maneuvers will be conducted at ranges remote from the state border. The Zapad 2017 will finish on September 20. As it was previously noted by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus, by the end of the month, servicemen from both countries will return to the points of permanent deployment.
