The Contact Subgroup on the settlement of the situation in the east of Ukraine has started its work. The agenda includes such issues as the exchange of prisoners, payment of pensions, violations of conditions for disengagement of forces and the special status of the Donbass. The previous meeting was held on April 4. Its participants called for a silence regime near the Donetsk station, where, according to OSCE Special Representative Martin Sajdik, violations of the ceasefire regime continued.
Germany and France are trying to revive Minsk agreements, even despite constant violations on the contact line. This was stated by Angela Merkel in her speech in the Bundestag. The German Chancellor also notes that the conflict in the Donbas can not be resolved militarily.
