Against the background of Western pressure, Russia and Belarus feel absolutely confident and reliable. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in Minsk at the extended talks with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, BELTA reports.
Vladimir Putin noted that ensuring defense and security is an extremely important area of cooperation between Belarus and Russia. "These are issues that are always in the field of vision of the President of Belarus and mine. We are always engaged in this with our colleagues from both sides, especially recently," the President said.
"The path that has been chosen by the Western community with regard to both Belarus and Russia (hostility, attempts to hold back our development, to harm our sovereignty) - no one has succeeded in this regard so far and, I am sure, nor will succeed. We feel absolutely confident, reliable and we will strengthen our cooperation in these important areas of activity," Vladimir Putin emphasized.
Speaking about the Union State construction, the head of state noted that the governments of the two countries have done a lot in this direction recently. Conditions for further cooperation in various spheres have been created. "Strengthening the welfare of citizens of Belarus and the Russian Federation is our common task," stressed the President.
