Belarus will make every effort to maintain peace and stability in Central Asia. This is said in a statement of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus on the deteriorating situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.

"The Republic of Belarus is following with concern the escalation of tension on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, which resulted in casualties on both sides. We confirm our commitment to resolving conflicts only by peaceful means," underlined the Foreign Ministry.

Belarus welcomed the meeting of the leaders of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, which was held during the SCO summit in Samarkand and was aimed to discuss the situation at the table and to change it into the political and diplomatic track.

"For its part, Belarus will make every effort to preserve peace and stability in Central Asia in the spirit of good neighborliness and mutual understanding," said the Foreign Ministry.
