Belarus and Nicaragua intend to expand cooperation

4 октября 2023

Belarus and Nicaragua will expand areas of bilateral cooperation. This was discussed today at the meeting of the joint commission on trade and economic cooperation. This is the first meeting in this format for the last 8 years. There are serious developments in the field of agriculture. Our country is ready to offer its agricultural technologies. The products of Belarusian industrial giants may also be in demand in Latin America.

Yevgeny Shestakov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus:

We always have something to offer each other, we have something to strive for in our cooperation. We see the potential for strategic partnership in the relations between our countries. We have had very open and productive talks over the past two days.

Laureano Facundo Ortega Murillo, Advisor to the President of Nicaragua on Investment, Trade and International Cooperation:

Both Nicaragua and Belarus have been exposed to foreign forces that have attempted a coup d'état in our countries. We also continue to oppose the illegal sanctions measures that are unilaterally imposed against us by Western countries, the United States, and Canada, thus trying to isolate us. Therefore, it is strategically important for us to strengthen the cooperation with the Republic of Belarus in order to organize some kind of alliances and create our own credit mechanisms that will allow us to develop.
