Belarus and Brazil agree to foster joint initiatives

On September 22, Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik and Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Luiz Iecker Vieira met in New York, BelTA reports.

The talks focused on bilateral, multilateral and regional issues. Serious attention was paid to the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. The parties noted the convergence of approaches and views on the ongoing processes and the need to find a peaceful way to resolve the conflict as soon as possible.

The Brazilian counterpart informed Sergei Aleinik in detail about the peacekeeping initiatives and efforts of the Brazilian leadership. The Belarusian Foreign Minister, in turn, shared his vision of the situation in Ukraine from Belarus.

The two sides agreed to continue contacts and in-depth study of a number of initiatives. The diplomats also touched upon the interaction within the BRICS framework.
