The concept of the development of cycling today was approved by the government at a meeting of the permanent security commission chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Kalinin. The purpose of the document is to reduce accidents, to promote the movement around the city on bicycles, as well as healthy lifestyles and the development of tourism. It is expected that the number of cyclists in Belarus will increase by 15-20% annually.
Alexey Avramenko, First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus: "The concept assumes common approaches to the development of cycling, on the basis of which regional programs will include specific measures for the construction, separation of bicycle paths and parking lots."
