Media problems discussed in Brest University

Victoria Potonya: Brest State University trains specialists for printed regional media. Today they met the Chair of Belteleradiocompany Gennady Davydko.


Five years ago Brest State University made an experiment started teaching the basics of journalism at the philological faculty. Today, 80 employees of the future of regional media are learning to write articles, notes, edit and type newspapers.


Recently, the university opened its own training radio studio. Here, future journalists will be able to practice their skills in making radio reports. Today many undergraduates already work in local newspapers and two television stations in Brest.


Olga Felkina, Dean of the Faculty of Philology at Brest State University named after A.S. Pushkin: I believe that the profession of journalism needs very serious practice.


While talking to Gennady Davydko young audience was interested in new television projects. During the dialogue students voiced their urgent problems: what literature is lacking today, what heroes could be of interest to young people.


Te same problems were discussed at a meeting of the President with the representatives of creative intelligentsia. Then the President talked about the development of national culture and spiritual needs of society.


Gennady Davydko, the Chair of Belteleradiocompany: I met very clever and spiritual students. You believe in the future, when you see such a person, such a focus on good, good life. We talked about literature, about patriotism. And they told me more than I told to them. I have a feeling I learned more than reported.


Ludmila Skibitskaya, head of the journalism department of Brest State University named after A.S. Pushkin: Literature has always performed a very important function of educating the reader, the reader's perception.


Today, the university held a presentation of professors and graduate students of the university.
