The Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus is preparing to hold the 8th congress. A large-scale event will be held in February. The President of Belarus and chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus Mikhail Orda discussed that today in the Palace of Independence. The Head of the State noted the role of the organization in the public and political life of the country. 511 delegates from all regions will come to a large-scale trade union congress. Alexander Lukashenko expressed interest in personal participation in the upcoming event.

Alexander Lukashenko thanked the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus for its active participation in the parliamentary election campaign in 2019. Almost 10000 people from the association worked in election commissions.

Salaries at bankrupt enterprises were talked over at the meeting. As the head of the trade unions told reporters, Belarus wants to create a special fund to solve this problem. Debt on wages and contributions to the Social Security Fund from bankrupt enterprises is about 30 million rubles today.

Mikhail Orda, Chairperson of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus: "This will support people, allow them to have money and search for jobs. These insurance contributions will be transferred to the Federal Social Protection Service."

The Federation of Trade Unions is also doing a great job of protecting workers. Experts have identified more than 200000 violations of labor law over 4 years. Employers in the vast majority of cases solved the problem. Employees were paid about twenty million rubles at the request of the association. These are either illegally withheld or unpaid funds.
