A detailed analysis of situation with COVID-19 will be held in Belarus next week. A meeting between Alexander Lukashenko and the WHO Regional Director for Europe was dedicated to the innovations in treatment of patients with Covid.

Hans Kluge came to Minsk to participate in the CIS medical summit where the countries share their experience. Belarus has chosen its own way in the fight against Covid, which has shown its effectiveness. When many countries went into the quarantine, we did not close our borders, did not stop the economy, and did not take the path of hard lockdown. So the Belarusians preserved their right to live their lives as they used to, and the medics continue to fight for each and every patient!

Х. Kluge counts on Belarus joining the COVAX initiative

While talking to journalists about the situation with the spread of coronavirus in the world and the region, Hans Kluge noted the need for access to a variety of vaccines.  In his opinion, this would provide additional confidence with the population. Dr. Kluge expects Belarus to join COVAX, a worldwide initiative aimed at ensuring equal access to vaccines against COVID-19.

Belarus has spent 700 million rubles on additional payments to medics.

The Belarusian government supports the selfless work of doctors. Our country has spent much more than last year on additional payments to doctors who work in the center of infection, and now the amount is 700 million rubles. The fourth wave and mutations of the delta strain do not allow making optimistic predictions about the decline of the pandemic. That is why all measures are being taken in Belarus to contain the disease: compulsory masking and a vaccination campaign.
