Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces to take part in Zapad-2017 exercise today

Today, the President of Belarus, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces will take part in the joint strategic exercise Zapad-2017. Alexander Lukashenko will observe one of the main episodes at the Borisov training site.

Representatives of the highest military command of Russia, the leadership of the Union State, the CIS, CSTO, foreign observers and diplomats are expected at the training sire as well. The Head of State will assess the level of interaction between troops in the conduct of a defensive battle. The main scenarios are played out on Belarusian venues with participation of 12,700 troops. 370 units of armored vehicles, up to 150 artillery units and rocket launcher systems, more than 40 aircraft and helicopters are involved.
