Belarus withstands powerful wave of family values demoralization

First, the symbols under which the genocide of the Belarusian people took place were imposed on our society, the heroic deeds of the Nazis and the criminals were justified, historical facts were rewritten, and now the system of centuries-old values of the Belarusians, which has always been based on the traditional construction of the family as a union of a man and a woman, is also questioned.

Thus, the following message appeared on the official Facebook page of the British Embassy in Belarus: "As elsewhere in the world, sex minorities in Belarus face discrimination and violence because of their identity. We will continue to work to protect the rights and freedoms of LGBTQ people regardless of the circumstances and support this Belarusian community," the publication said. This year, the EU, UK, US and other countries and international organizations support the Belarusian civil society activists encouraging the theme of the day.

Following Christian canons

The family in our culture, in our mentality, in our basic religions is seen as a union of a man and a woman meant for procreation and bringing up children according to the principles of Christian morality. The Belarusian Orthodox and Catholic churches urge to respond to modern challenges and not to chase after modern European trends, which lead to moral degradation and physical health problems, but to inherit the traditions of ancestors and live by the commandments of the Bible. The two leading confessions of the country are united and solidary, when it comes to family values.

Veniamin, Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslavl, High Priest of All Belarus: "The people, who stand on traditional values, steadfastly stand on two feet. Our ancestors followed the spiritual law and due to that there was a good internal basis for our people. We must not deviate from this. The rest is dangerous and harmful, and in terms of demography and morality, we need to cherish our history and tradition, to present it in detail, as it was before, so that the younger generation understood the essence."

The Belarusian Christian Church calls upon other religious confessions and national communities of our country and each citizen to become a wall in front of the powerful wave of demoralization, which is imposed upon us from the outside. It is possible to resist the destructive western ideology only together, deeply understanding and accepting the real family values.

Elena Bogdan, Chairperson of the Belarusian Union of Women, First Deputy Minister of Health: "Family is a nucleus of society, because it is laid down in the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus and family is a traditional family, a family with a father and a mother. We have a lot of activities aimed at supporting the family. For example, last week all of our regional organizations held events related to the Family Day. Somewhere it included congratulations to large families, single parent families, families having children with disabilities, and large-scale events to honor families, various performances of children's bands, and drawing contests. One of the priorities of the Belarusian Union of Women is to support families."

In our country, a family based on the union of a man and a woman is traditionally considered to be a foundation of simple human happiness and a solid foundation of the state.
