New law on military service signed

In short, security issues in the modern world come to the fore. And for our country it is one of the main tasks. "Everyone should protect his homeland," these are the words of our President on the eve of Belarus’s Independence Day.

Military service is a matter of every self-respecting man. Plus it is  discipline, an opportunity to master a new profession and find  friends for life. Today a new law on military service has been signed. It will take effect in 10 days. Now, the performance of military duty will be the most important criteria for applying for a state service. The changes affected the conditions for continuing education: the principle of a one-time granting of a delay is introduced. 

The changes will also affect the public service, the service in the bodies ensuring national security: now the law restricts the acceptance of citizens who have not completed military service without legal grounds.

The President also instructed the government to work out a set of measures aimed at increasing the prestige of military service. It is about creating preferential conditions for entering educational institutions, providing places in hostels.
