10 years ago, Belarusians did not think that they would have to defend the historical truth about the Great Patriotic War, about the feat of the people, about the heroic resistance. This opinion was expressed by Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Igor Petrishenko in an interview with reporter Svetlana Lukianyuk.

"People of the older generation were brought up on the genetic and core level on other approaches, other traditions, and they can no longer be led off the course, as they say, which allows them to know all these facts and pass them on to the younger generation," said Igor Petrishenko. - The law on the genocide of the Belarusian people was adopted to ensure the protection of the historical truth, so that the feat of our people would not be subject to oblivion, so that the next generations would know about this feat.

Until now it was believed that 9200 settlements were destroyed in Belarus during the Great Patriotic War. According to the General Prosecutor's Office, as a result of the investigation of the criminal case on the genocide of the Belarusian people, another 3238 settlements that were exterminated by the Nazi invaders and their henchmen in the territory of the Republic should be added to these figures.

Article 15 of the Constitution of Belarus states that it is the direct duty of citizens to preserve the historical truth and honor the feat of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. "That's why we are now actively carrying out this work on behalf of the head of state."
