Remains of civilians killed during Great Patriotic War reburied in city park in Slavgorod

The remains of civilians who died during the Great Patriotic War, were reburied in the city park in Slavgorod. The place where the fascists shot 91 people, was established during the investigation of the criminal case on the genocide of the Belarusian people on the basis of documents and memories of eyewitnesses. Shell casings, cartridges, elements of clothing were also found at the site.

More than 2 thousand civilians were killed in Slavgorod District alone during the war years. These stories are still kept in the families of descendants.

In the same district a large-scale search expedition "Sozh Frontier - 2024" was launched. During the week the military together with activists of the historical and patriotic club "Vikkru" will conduct excavations at the sites of fierce battles of the Great Patriotic War. Osipovichi, Shklov, Goretsky and Mogilev districts will also be covered by the search teams.
