The Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Traumatology and Orthopedics has developed a new method for minimally invasive surgical treatment of the spine. This technology is suitable for patients with injuries and diseases of the thoracic and lumbar spine.
Treatment is performed using a new generation metal construct. It was developed by the scientific staff of the Center jointly with a Belarusian manufacturer. Thus, special screws are installed through small incisions in the skin. This will reduce blood loss during the operation, as well as minimize trauma to blood vessels, nerves and muscles. During the postoperative period, the method will reduce pain syndrome. Patients will be able to start rehabilitation as early as possible.
15 patients were operated on at the Center under the new method. All of them are in satisfactory condition at home. The technology is also implemented in Gomel Regional Hospital. Soon it will appear in Minsk Emergency Ambulance Hospital. Belarusian doctors also performed a number of such operations in Russia and Uzbekistan.
