A flare of the highest power occurred on the Sun in the morning of May 8. Strong magnetic storms are possible in the coming days. This was reported by the head of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Science Sergei Bogachev.
The flare was registered at about 8:00 Minsk time. Space coronographs confirmed the movement of the outburst to Earth. According to the forecasts, the solar masses will reach our planet on May 11.
Specialists have concluded that the outbreak may lead to a strong magnetic storm. The magnetic storms cause malfunctions in communication systems and satellite navigation, as well as lead to deterioration of health in weather-dependent people.
