The lightning-fast and coordinated response of the CSTO to the events in Kazakhstan was the last thing the West expected. Our peacekeepers became a bur in the throat for coordinators of protests, sobering up gangsters fooled in the direct sense of the word and their guides. Hence, the hysterical accusations and concerns about the suppression of "peaceful people" are heard more and more abroad. However, we are all too familiar with it: they tried to make the same thing in Belarus, but it did not work. They crawled away. They hid. Now they are trying to swing Kazakhstan, approaching Russia from the other side and trying to divide us. 

Protecting Kazakhstan from terrorists and external interference

The situation in Kazakhstan has become relatively calmer. The second day of the counter-terrorist operation is coming to an end. The Collective Security Treaty Organization’s efforts have played a major role in this. The unrest is gradually subsiding.

The radicals have been provided not only with money, but also with free energy drinks to incite unrest. A TV channel has shown how the rioters were given weapons. And the armed terrorists were ready for action. 

President Tokayev warned that 20,000 well-trained terrorists were about to attack the country's cities. Among them, there is a significant number of foreigners. This technology also includes marginal elements, for whom the protests are a chance to profit from anarchy.

Nikita Mendkovich, political scientist (Russia): 

“Among the leaders of the protest, there are two unregistered parties in Kazakhstan financed by the U.S. In addition, the protest movement is coordinated by the BASE agency based in Ukraine, which is also financed by the United States.” 

Therefore, the hysteria of Western Influencers and politicians is understandable. The arrival of the CSTO peacekeeping forces was not part of the plans of the conspirators. But it was repeatedly emphasized: the peacekeepers are not going to make war. The main tasks of the CSTO collective peacekeeping forces are to protect important state and military facilities and to assist the law enforcement forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan in stabilizing the situation and returning it to the legal field. 

Vadim Borovik, political scientist:

“Our task is to provide maximum assistance in bringing constitutional order and stopping the fratricidal war that is going on in Kazakhstan today. Civilians are dying, and the instigators are thugs inspired from outside. We are interested in the earliest possible establishment of peace in Kazakhstan. And, again, we have come to this land only with peace. If necessary, we will provide the appropriate assistance in similar situations, including to Belarus. Although, of course, we do everything to prevent such a situation on our part.”

The Eurasian Union is not going to loose the Kazakh market. The entire region is interested in the stable situation in Kazakhstan. In addition, the country is an important geopolitical point on the world map. This is a rear of Russia, the side of China. For the enemy, this is a convenient place to implement the war against the alleged eastern threat. 

On this wave, our heads of state emphasize that it is important to prevent the infiltration of gangs from the outside, as it was the case with snipers during Maidan in 2014. Also, in 2020, the day before the elections, our border guards returned dozens of tough Ukrainian guys who could not explain why they had flown to Minsk. 

The CSTO fraternal assistance is a reasonable, consolidated and civilized response.  The Kazakhstan's aggravation played in favor of strengthening our integration.
