Minsk International Book Fair to be held from March 14 to 17

Minsk will become the book capital this week. The main topics of the International Book Fair are the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus and the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution, the Year of Quality and anniversaries of the classics of Belarusian literature. About 60 thousand people are expected to visit the forum during the four days.

Alexander Karliukevich, Chairman of the Union of Writers of Belarus:

“On the eve of the anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders and on the eve of the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Union of Writers of Belarus, we will hold a large plenum to which we will invite not only members of the board of the Union of Writers, not only our activists, but also invite literary critics, teachers and educators, university professors and talk about literature of different decades devoted to the theme of war.”

Mikhail Pozdnyakov, Secretary of the Board of the Union of Writers of Belarus, Chairman of the Minsk City Branch of the Union of Writers of Belarus:

“Certainly, these are presentations of our books, these are creative evenings and these are anniversaries of our famous writers who have made a significant contribution to the development of modern literature.”

The exhibition is preceded by the Decade of the Russian Book. Its opening took place today in one of the oldest libraries in Minsk - named after Leo Tolstoy. It presents the works of the best Russian-speaking poets who live in Belarus. And on March 14, the day of the international forum start - an evening of Russian poetry will be held.
