The possibility of a direct military clash with NATO in the future is becoming very obvious, said Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin, speaking at the Moscow Conference on International Security on August 15, RIA Novosti reports.
The Minister stated that the national and coalition strategic planning documents of the Western states openly name their adversaries. Today they are Russia, China and states allied to them, which includes Belarus.
"Such doctrinal attitudes are not born out of nowhere. Intensive military preparations are underway in the West. Huge sums of money are being invested in it. And one should understand that in the capitalist world no one will freeze their assets in weapons and invest in the army for nothing. Therefore, the conclusion is unambiguous: the possibility of a direct military confrontation with NATO is becoming very obvious," said Khrenin.
The head of the Defense Ministry of Belarus pointed out that the aggressive plans of the West are openly heard in the statements of its high-ranking representatives. The only thing that restrains the power structures of the "golden billion" from unleashing a large-scale war is the possibility of a nuclear response to their actions. "In this context, Minsk considers the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons on its territory as an effective factor of strategic deterrence," the general noted.
