Belarusian rescuers return from Latvia

Belarusian rescuers have returned fr om Latvia wh ere they helped colleagues in extinguishing forest fires. Today, the Mi-8 helicopter landed at Lipki airfield. The territory of more than a thousand hectares was on fire in the neighboring country. The operation to eliminate it began for our specialists on July 26. On behalf of the Head of State, a Mi-8 helicopter set off for Latvia. This helicopter is equipped with special systems that allow taking up to 3 tons of water from almost any source. As the commander of the crew notes, they had to work in difficult conditions: strong wind and heat. The vastness of the territory covered by fire aggravated the situation. Today the specialists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus were met as real heroes. For today the fire is Latvia has been practically eliminated.

Our rescue agency helped other countries to eliminate emergency situations more than 20 times.
