Belarusian Statistical Committee compiles portrait of average Belarusian woman

To mark International Women’s Day, the Belarusian Statistical Committee has compiled a portrait of the average Belarusian woman. Today, women make up more than half of Belarus’ total population. Most live in cities or urban-type settlements. The average age of the Belarusian woman is 42.5. She gets married at 25, giving birth to the first child at 26. More than 60 percent of the women have higher or secondary professional education. Almost 65 % are working. Most of them are employed in the service sector, primarily in such spheres as health care, social services and education.
