German documentary filmmakers are shooting a movie about the historical past of Belarus. Khatyn became one of the points for visiting of the film crew. The main goal is to highlight and convey the truth of what actually happened during the Great Patriotic War and show as many memorable places as possible. The delegations told what happened on the fateful morning of 1943, when civilians were burned alive. In memory of the victims, they laid flowers at the Eternal Flame. Some couldn’t hold back their tears.

Ludwig Siegfried, social activist of the society “Circle of Friends Neidorf – Domachevo”:

“The fact, that Germany and Hitler have started the war is openly spoken. This is a fact. It is undeniable that this war of aggression, the Second World War, should have been avoided. It was a war against the Slavic peoples, against the Soviet Union. However we cannot change the past. This has happened, and as descendants, we must remember that it cannot happen again. This is our goal.”

Khatyn is an unhealed wound on the hearts of Belarusians. Today, when the history is rewritten and the facts are distorted our task is to preserve the truth and to convey it to future generations.
