The Day of Greening is held in Belarus on April 6, BELTA writes with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.
"The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection is holding a unified Day of Greening in Belarus. We invite every resident and guest of our country to take an active part in this event and thus contribute to the common great cause - the preservation of the nature of our native land," the press service said.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection in spring and fall traditionally initiates actions to restore order on the land, landscaping and planting of greenery in settlements. This year was no exception: the Ministry announced an environmental campaign "Together for a Green Belarus!" within the Year of Quality.
Thanks to the active participation of citizens in cities and towns, agro-towns and villages of the country, the area of green areas is steadily growing. For example, over 346 thousand trees and over 517 thousand shrubs were planted near the houses and other areas of settlements. The area of green areas in cities and district centers increased by 901.11 hectares. The required greening level of 40% (which corresponds to environmental norms and rules) was achieved in 131 settlements.
